Understanding the Beauty of Islam

Islam is the world’s most beautiful and only complete religion. It was completed long ago and its teachings are for all mankind who will walk on this Earth at anytime. Nasheed is an Arabic word and most Arabic words have multiple meanings. One meaning of the word Nasheed is to give advice. In Islam it is considered very important to give good advice to others. In a way Islamic singers or Nasheed singers are following this order of Allah.

Nasheed, the Islamic songs are about preaching the good. They are reminders for the believers and a means of showing the preaching of Islam to those belonging to other faiths. Islamic singers are working like ambassadors of Islam. Nasheeds talk about gratitude, being kind and humble, keeping your faith and a number of other topics.

We have all been down on our knees at one point or other in our lives. There is a beautiful Nasheed by Sami Yusuf on healing about keeping your faith. The Nasheed singer has beautifully sung about how one feels when they are depressed and then he explains how being kind helps you heal

“It’s so hard to explain
What I’m feeling
But I guess it’s ok
Cause I’ll keep believing
There’s something deep inside
Something that’s calling
It’s calling you and I
It’s taking us up high
Healing, a simple act of kindness brings such meaning
A smile can change a life let’s start believing
And feeling, let’s start healing”

Another Nasheed along same lines by the Nasheed band Labbayk called “A New Day” goes like:

“It’s the deepest of fears
When you don’t know yourself
Make a prayer for the future now
Be brave and don’t lose hope”

In Islam the rights of other which are known as “huqooq ul Ibad” are considered very important. The most important of all being those of our parents! Nasheed singer Zain Bikha beautifully expresses love for his mother in this Nasheed called “The Woman I Love” by singing:

“For as long as I remember

You were there for me

A young woman, growing older

But always mum to me

My heaven lies under your feet”

Here the singer makes a reference to an ahadith by the Prophet (P.B.U.H) where he told the Ummah “That you paradise lies under your mother’s feet”

One beautiful aspect of Islam is Allah’s mercy and we Muslims are always reminded about how forgiving Allah is. Ahmed Bukhtiar, the Nasheed singer from UAE asks for Allah’s forgiveness in this beautiful Nasheed.

“I know that i have missed my prayer,
Thought you’d forgive me anyway,
I took advantage of your love,
Not knowing you watched from above
I was so bad i could not see,
My sins all gathering in front of me,
I was so blind, until this day,
Didn’t know i was of this way

I will be back I promise,
Don’t let me go this way,
Give me one more chance,
Don’t let me go….”

Islam is a beautiful religion and the Nasheed singers are doing a tremendous job in making the listeners aware of the true beauty of Islam.
